Shi-Dong Elementary School was established in March, 1940

as San-Chou Branch School of Shi-Lin Public School.  The

name of the school was changed many times until in July, 1968,

The name of the school was formally changed as Shi-Dong

Elementary School.

Mr. Ying-Hui Tien is the principal of Shi-Dong Elementary

School, before him there were 10 principals who had

devoted to the build-up of the school in various aspects.

There are special classes for the gifted students, the learning

disabilities and emotional troubled students and physically

handicapped students.

On September 21, 1999 the fatal earthquake destroyed the

school major building, Li-Shing Lo, the building is expected

to be completely rebuilt in September 2002.
